SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich.-- Lake Superior State University Athletics will offer a special opportunity for families to come together for a shared experience this Thanksgiving Weekend when the Laker Hockey Team hosts the U.S. National Under 18 Team on Saturday, November 25th (5 p.m.) inside Taffy Abel Arena!
The promotion works like this; One member of the family pays $13, the cost of a regularly-priced hockey ticket, and each member of the family or party is issued a ticket at no extra charge.
For example, if five family members walk up to the ticket office on game day the total cost for the group is $13. If nine family members (or extended family members) walk up to the box office the total cost for the party is still $13.
"There is no specific size limit to the family," Director of Athletics Dr. David Paitson. "Families are looking for things to do on Thanksgiving weekend and a Laker Hockey Game is a terrific option.
"Just gather up the group and come on out! We're looking forward to attracting those that may not have attended a game in a while as well as those who have yet to see their first hockey game at Taffy Abel Arena. It's going to be a fun night out!"
The corner and end sections of the ice rink seating area will be converted to general admission for this game only. A few seats will be marked reserved to hold locations owned by season ticket holders, but the vast majority of the locations will be open for the promotion. In total, there will be more than 2,500 seats made available for the promotion.
Keeping with the Thanksgiving Spirt, the LSSU conssesions stands will be selling 'Walking Talking Turkey Tacos'. The hockey team will also be holding a post-game skate with a player meet and great and poster giveaways.
The ticket office, located just inside the James C. Norris Center, will be opening early at 2:00 p.m. for the 5:00 p.m. faceoff to accommodate the walk-up crowd. This is a day of game sales promotion only.
