SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich.—Lake Superior State men's basketball coach Steve Hettinga has announced two additions to his 2018-19 recruiting class with the signings of C.J. Robinson and Ashton Sherrell to National Letters of Intent as part of the NCAA Spring Signing period.

"Both of these young men come from elite high school programs with 3 state titles between them," said Hettinga. "We love to recruit guys that know how to win on the biggest of stages and believe the future is bright with the addition of these two fine young men."

Robinson, a 5-11 guard, is a four-year letter from MHSAA Class A powerhouse, Clarkston High School, where he helped lead the Wolves to back-to-back state titles his junior and senior seasons (2017 & 2018).

"(Robinson) a very hard-nosed player that is a flat out winner," said Hettinga. "He is versatile and plays the game at both ends of the floor.  He loves the game and will be a great asset to our program."

Sherrell, a 6-7 forward from New Haven High School, also brings in a championship pedigree to the program having captured a Class B state championship during his junior season (2017).

"(Sherrell) is a young man who we feel has a ton of upside," said Hettinga. "In our system, Ashton will be a perfect fit.  He is very unselfish and loves to defend and rebound.

Robinson and Sherrell will join Warren De La Salle guard, Justin Fischer, who signed his NLI in November, to comprise the 2018-19 Laker recruiting class.
