SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – More than 35 Lake Superior State student-athletes participated in the annual Global Youth Service Day by cleaning up debris throughout the downtown Sault Ste. Marie area.
The local Global Youth Service Day was put on by the United Way of the Eastern Upper Peninsula. In total, 26 events tied to Global Youth Service Day were conducted throughout the state of Michigan. LSSU Athletics' participation in the event is part of an overall relationship between the department and UWEUP.
Global Youth Service Day is hosted as a national event by Youth Service America and is the largest youth service and civic action event in the world and runs from April 12-14, 2019. The event allows individuals, ages 5-25, to get active in their communities and make a difference.
