LSSU triple jumpers earn All-GLIAC honors

UNIVERSITY CENTER - Sophomore Taylor Patton earned All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Second Team honors in the women's triple jump, and freshman Patrick Wright made the All-GLIAC Third Team in the men's triple jump to lead the Lake Superior State track and field team at the 2009 GLIAC Indoor Championships held Friday and Saturday at Saginaw Valley State.

Patton placed second with a jump of 35-10 ¾. Wright was third with a leap of 44-10 ¾.

Several Laker athletes earned All-GLIAC Honorable Mention, including Katie Scott, who was fourth in the women's 3,000 and 5,000-meter runs, Kayla Nowak (3,000-meter run), Patton and Katie Winiarski (women's high jump), Paul Davis (men's 200-meter dash), the LSSU men's 4x400-meter and distance medley relays and Dana Skytta (men's high jump).

Skytta broke his own school record in the high jump. He cleared 6-6 ¼ and tied for fourth place. Amanda Pieczynski improved her school record in the women's 60-meter dash. She was 13^th with a time of :08.29.
