Lakers claims five firsts at Northwood Invitational

MIDLAND – Lake Superior State won one women’s event and four men’s events at the Northwood Invitational track and field meet held Friday. The meet included competitors from Northwood, LSSU, Ferris State, Northern Michigan and Alma.

Taylor Patton was the Lakers’ lone female winner. She placed first in the triple jump with a leap of 10.47 meters. Teammate Katie Winiarski was third at 10.24 meters. 

Jonathon Allen was a double winner, taking the men’s long jump in 7.10 meters and the triple jump with a distance of 15.32 meters. Sean Brandon Jr. was the top quartermiler, winning the 400-meter dash in :50.95. John Preczewski won the men’s high jump at 1.85 meters.

LSSU’s only runner-up finish was in the men’s 4x400-meter relay. Third-place awards went to Winiarski (women’s high jump), Kimberlee Booms (women’s hammer throw), Jake Hoover (men’s 3,000-meter run), John Preczewski (men’s 400-meter hurdles) and Dillon Menard (men’s long jump).
