Walton wins women's shot put at Northern Challenge
MARQUETTE - Lake Superior State junior John Preczewski placed second in the men's 55-meter hurdles, third in the high jump and fifth in the 200-meter dash to lead the Laker track and field teams at Saturday's Northern Challenge hosted by Northern Michigan University.
LSSU's Ben Monroe, Paul Davis and Preczewski finished second, third and fifth, respectively in the men's 200. Davis also took second in the 400.
Senior Jill Walton won the women's shot put with a throw of 12.04 meters. She was also second in the weight throw, while teammate Amanda Pieczynski was second in the 55-meter dash. Amber Fater took third in the women's 55-meter hurdles with a school record time of :08.89. Taylor Patton was second in the triple jump (10.35m) and fourth in the high jump (1.52m).
The Northern Michigan, Northwood and St. Norberts varsity teams, along with the NMU and Michigan Tech men's club teams participated in the meet.
