Lakers open 2009-10 season with Blue-Gold Meet

SAULT STE. MARIE - Amanda Pieczynski, Jill Walton, John Preczewski and Dana Skytta were among the double winners during the Lake Superior State track and field team's season-opening Blue-Gold Alumni Meet held Saturday at the Arbuckle Student Activity Center.

Walton broke school records in the women's weight throw (14.53 meters) and women's shot put (12.86 meters). Skytta won the men's shot put and weight throw, while Pieczynski claimed the women's 55-meter and 200-meter dashes. Preczewski won the men's high jump and 55-meter hurdles.

"Overall the meet went very well," LSSU coach Steve Eles said. "The competition was very close and intense, two school records were broken, and several personal records were broken. Our athletes now have a benchmark heading into next semester. We are looking to continue to improve on the individual marks as well as breaking as many school records as possible this coming indoor season."
