FINDLAY, Ohio - Sashawna Bennett won the women's 60-meter hurdles and Kaleb Schweiger set a new school record in the men's pole vault to highlight Lake Superior State's showing Saturday at the Findlay Oiler Invitational indoor track and field meet.
Bennett won the 60-meter hurdles in :08.89 and met the NCAA Provisional Qualifying Time. She also placed fourth in the 200-meter dash (:26.52).
Schweiger set a new school indoor pole vault mark of 4.45 meters and placed third. Robert Valdez finished second in the men's high jump with an NCAA Provisional Qualifying height of 2.07 meters. Jeremy Braman was fourth in the high jump at 1.97 meters.
Sean Suehr (:52.10), Spencer Montcastle (:52.22) and Yazin Joseph (:52.65) placed second, fourth and fifth, respectively, in the men's 400-meter dash. Oshane Thomas was third in the 200 with a time of :22.69.
Fourth-place finishes for the Laker men went to Justin Balczak in the 60-meter hurdles (:08.41) and Braman in the high jump (1.97 meters). Ben Deuling was fifth in the mile run (4:23.30), as was Balczak, Thomas, Dan Bell and Joseph in the 4x400-meter relay (3:32.26), Balczak in the long jump (6.70 meters), and Robert Gallinger in the triple jump (11.94 meters).
Braman placed sixth in the long jump (6.64 meters), while Justin Dieck was seventh in the shot put (15.50 meters). Brandon Hein in the 800-meter run (2:03.84) and Ryan Rogers in the 3,000-meter run (9:30.71) were eighth.
For the Laker women, Jasmine Mata finished fourth in the 60-meter dash (:07.97) and fifth in the 200-meter dash (:26.54). Margaret Beal was third in the triple jump with a distance of 9.92 meters, and Caroline Strasser was fifth (9.73 meters). Strasser was sixth (4.76 meters) and Beal seventh (4.71 meters) in the long jump.
Jessica Allen placed sixth in the women's mile run in 5:45.91. Kelsey Lewis was 10th in the 3,000-meter run (11.42.64), while Casey Shafer was 11th.
