Pieczynski wins two events at Defiance College

DEFIANCE, Ohio - Sophomore sprinter Amanda Pieczynski was double winner as the Lake Superior State women's track and field team picked up four first-place finishes at the 13th annual Dick Small Invitational held Friday at Defiance College.

The meet was the Lakers' outdoor season opener.

Pieczynski won the 200-meter dash in :27.00 and took the 400 in 1:03.14. LSSU teammates Katie Scott (18:42.48) and Ashley Quick (19:08.52) claimed a one-two finish in the 5,000, and Angela Perry won the 10,000 in 42:13.10.

Freshman Taylor Patton placed second in the high jump, javelin throw, long jump and triple jump, and was fifth in the discus throw. Other LSSU standouts included third-place finishers Marissa Ingle (1,500) and Cassandra Vitton (javelin throw), and fourth-place finishers Chelsea Childs (400 dash) and Mary McLeod (shot put).

The Lakers' next meet is April 5 at Ferris State.
