LSSU and NU men tie dual meet at Northwood

MIDLAND - The Lake Superior State and Northwood men's teams scored 165.5 points each, while the Laker women outscored NU 198-108 during Tuesday's track and field dual meet held at Hantz Field.

LSSU sophomore Amanda Pieczynski tied her school record in the 100-meter dash, winning the event in :12.88. She also won the 200-meter dash in :26.31.

Double winner Taylor Patton took the high jump (1.58m) and triple jump (10.04m). Other first-place finishers for the LSSU women's team were Shelby LaBuhn in the 100-meter hurdles (:16.76) and Katie Scott in the 1,500-meter run (4:57.79).

Rick Koon was a double winner for the Laker men, claiming the high jump (1.88m) and long jump (6.60m). Evan Williams won the 800-meter run (1:57.0), and Tom Thornton took the 1,500-meter run in 4:12.97. LSSU also placed first in the men's 4x400-meter relay.

Sault Ste. Marie native Julie Mason of Northwood won the women's hammer throw (42.57m) and discus throw (35.12m).
