Heath places 19th at Roy Griak

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Lake Superior State sophomore Taylor Heath placed 25th overall and 19th among individuals scoring for their teams Saturday at the Roy Griak Invitational, which is the nation's largest cross country meet.

Heath was one of 322 male competitors in the Division II race on the Les Bolstad 8K Course. He clocked a 26:07. LSSU sophomore Mark List was 84th in 27:24, while freshman Rance Carpenter was 141st in 28:30. LSSU's top five in the men's race also included Mike McPherson, who was 148th in 28:36, while Andrew Althaus, who was 155th in 28:50.

Central Missouri State won the men's DII team title, while Iowa Central's Stanley Kabenei won the men's DII race in 24:38.9. The DI champion was Arizona's Lawi Lalang in 23:15.5.

Junior Brooke Simon was 103rd among 270 female runners and finished the 6K race in 25:16.1 to lead the Laker women's team. Freshman Sarah Smith was 121st in 26:00, followed by sophomore Kelsey Lewis, who was 125th in 26:09.6. Sophomore Elizabeth Dachs was 126th in 26:13, followed by freshman Jessica Allen, who was 129th in 26:32.3.

The University of Mary won the women's DII team title, while Courtney Schall, competing unattached, won the women's DII race in 21:38.7. California's Deborah Maier won the women's DI race in 20:29.2.
