LSSU country teams take on mega field at MSU Spartan Invitational

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Lake Superior State women's cross country team placed 11th among 12 teams at Friday's Auto Owners Insurance MSU Spartan Invitational held at Forrest Akers East Golf Course. Men's Division II team results were not posted.

Freshman Kaitlyn Cavallo placed 65th in 26:29 to lead the LSSU women's squad in the 6K Division II race. Cavallo was 236th overall among 366 female collegiate competitors.

Senior Hannah Passino finished 66th in 26:32, and junior Trudie Mulville 67th in 26:33. Three freshmen rounded out the Lakers' top six as Rebecca Lathrop was 75th (29:49), Melody Perrin 76th (29:55) and Courtney Stewart 78th (33:17).

Redshirt freshman Thomas VanSlembrouck placed 178th among 410 male collegiate runners to lead the Lakers on the 8K course. VanSlembrouck finished in 28:01. Senior Jacob Baker was 191st in 28:11, followed by sophomore Jack Miles, who was 228th in 28:49.

Freshman Edward Carlson finished 240th with a time of 29:08. Senior Ryan Rogers was 267th (29:30), sophomore Zach Workman 270th (29:33) and Freshman Andrew Vincent 282nd (29:48).

Grand Valley State's Kendra Foley and Zach Panning swept the collegiate individual titles.
