Perkins is named GLIAC North Division Player of the Week

BAY CITY - Lake Superior State senior guard Scott Perkins was named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference North Division Player of the Week after averaging 31 points per game during the LSSU men's basketball team's victories over Hillsdale and Findlay.

Perkins (Perrysburg, Ohio) scored a career-high 38 points as the Lakers beat Hillsdale 65-60 last Thursday. His scoring total was the most by a Laker since Ben Dewar scored 42 points against Finlandia in December, 2002. He also came through with 24 points to lead the Lakers to a 61-55 victory over nationally-ranked Findlay.

For the week, Perkins shot 47.5 percent from the field and averaged 31 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. He is currently averaging 21.7 ppg to lead the GLIAC in scoring.

Northwood's Dorian Pierce was named GLIAC South Division Player of the Week. He averaged 22.5 points, 4.0 assists, 3.0 steals and 2.5 rebounds per game as NU was 1-1 against Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech.
