Timely threes land Hunt on GLIAC Player of the Week list

BAY CITY - Lake Superior State senior guard Kyle Hunt was named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference North Division Player of the Week after averaging 19.5 points per game during last week's 65-56 loss to Ferris State and 74-53 victory over Grand Valley State.

Hunt (Macomb, Mich.) was 6-of-15 (.400) from three-point range and 13-of-15 at the free-throw line for the week. He made a long three-pointer at 18:44 of the second half to extended LSSU's three-point lead over GVSU to six points, and hit another one at 16:12 as LSSU opened the second half with an 8-1 run. He scored 13 second-half points against GVSU.

Hunt is ranked sixth in the GLIAC in scoring, averaging 17.0 points per game (15.7 ppg overall). He is tied for first in the GLIAC in minutes played at 34.6.

Ashland junior guard Ronnie Steward was named South Division Player of the Week after averaging 23 ppg during the Eagles' wins over Findlay and Urbana.

LSSU plays host to Michigan Tech at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
