Morse earns GLIAC honor

BAY CITY - Lake Superior State's sophomore guard Mark Morse was named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference North Division Player of the Week honor for December 18 through December 31 due to his performances against Ferris State and St. Joseph's.

Morse made a big impact in Lake State's last two competitions. He averaged 22 points in 26 minutes per game while shooting 63.6 percent from the field (14-22) and 66.7 percent from three-point range (10-15). He also averaged 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game.

At Ferris State, he scored a career-high 29 points and was 6-of-6 at the line during the final 3:58 of the 84-77 victory. He is currently ranked third in the GLIAC in average three-point field goals per game with 2.73.

Morse scored 15 points with 2.0 assists in the 75-72 loss to St. Joseph's.

This season, Morse is shooting 43.9 percent from the field and 45.5 percent from three-point range. He is averaging 11.9 points and 3.1 rebounds per game.

The LSSU men's basketball team will tip off at 7:30 against the Northern Michigan Wildcats at the Berry Events Center today. The women's game is at 5:30 p.m.
