Lakers and Wildcats tie for ninth at GLIAC Championship

DETROIT - Lake Superior State and Northern Michigan tied for ninth place in the 11-team field at the 2010 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Golf Championship, which concluded Monday at the Grosse Ile Golf and Country Club.

Brent Vizina, who was tied for 10th after the first round, shot a 74-81-82--237 to lead LSSU and tie for 36th place. Mike Caputo (76-80-83--239) and P.J. Dienes (81-79-79--239) tied for 38th.

LSSU's top five also included Brandon Vizina (82-81-78--241), who tied for 45th, and Andrew McKenney (83-81-82--246), who was 51st.

Ferris State defeated Wayne State, which came back from being eight strokes down with six holes to go, in a playoff to win the championship.  FSU's Kyle Wittenbach is the 2010 medalist (75-66-74--215).
