Lakers place ninth among 13 teams at SVSU
UNIVERSITY CENTER - Two Lake Superior State golfers placed among the top 30 as the Lakers finished ninth among 13 teams at the season-opening Al Watrous Memorial Invitational hosted by Saginaw Valley Sate.
Freshman Doug Piesko fired a 72-74--146 to tie for 19th place and post the low round for LSSU. He was +2 for the weekend. Junior Mike Caputo tied for 25th with a 70-77--147.
Sean Stubbs (74-77--151) tied for 41st, while Justin Helmholdt (81-76--157) tied for 56th. P.J. Dienes (78-80--158) tied for 59th.
The Lakers complete Sept. 17-18 at Northwood.
