Lakers finish ninth in men's GLIAC Championship
LANSING, Mich. - Lake Superior State placed ninth among 12 teams at the 2011-12 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championships held Sunday and Monday at Eagle Eye Golf Club.
Doug Piesko shot rounds of 75-79-78--232 to finish 16-over and lead the Lakers with a tie for 21st place. Justin Helmholdt (77-80-77--234) was 30th, while Mike Caputo (85-75-81--241) tied for 44th.
Sean Stubbs (78-86-81--245) tied for 48th, and Andrew McKenney (88-80-86--254) was 54th.
Chris Cunningham of Grand Valley State took medalist honors with a 73-71-73--217. He was 1-over, while teammate Nick Gunthorpe finished second at 2-over. GVSU also won the team title.
