Lakers place 20th at Regional #1
SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. - Freshman Doug Piesko tied for 33rd place to lead the Lake Superior State men's golf team, which placed 20th among 27 teams at the NCAA Midwest Fall Regional held Sunday and Monday at Hawkshead Golf Course.
Piesko shot a 78-74--152 for LSSU. Justin Helmholdt tied for 92nd with back-to-back 80s. Sean Stubbs (80-81--161) and Mike Caputo (77-84--161) tied for 99th place, and Brandon Visinza (85-79--164) tied for 116th place.
Indianapolis took the team title. Drury's Shawn Vanderwal was the individual medalist with a 71-70--141.
The Lakers compete in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships Oct. 2-3 in Lansing.
