Former Lakers Dan Eves and Justin Gutwald join pro teams
SAULT STE. MARIE - Former Lake Superior State forward Dan Eves has signed a contract the Idaho Steelheads of the East Coast Hockey League, while former LSSU defenseman Justin Gutwald has joined the Port Huron Icehawks of the International Hockey League.
Eves (6-2, 215), who served as an assistant captain for LSSU last season, has reunited with former Laker defenseman Kory Scoran, who is in his third professional season. Eves was second in points for the Lakers last season, totaling 11 goals and 15 assists in 37 games, and received the Soo BlueLiners Award.
The Steelheads are affiliated with the Dallas Stars. Eves (Lake Orion, Mich.) was also invited to the Providence Bruins' (AHL) training camp.
Gutwald (6-1, 205) has played in one of the Icehawks' two games so far this season. Gutwald is from Grosse Pointe, Mich.
