TROY, N.Y. - Lake Superior State tied Bentley, 2-2, through overtime and lost a shootout for the second straight night at the 59th annual RPI Holiday Tournament.

Lakers (6-7-3 overall) snapped a 140:47-minute scoreless streak that spanned three games by scoring two goals in the second period against Bentley and coming back from a 2-0 first-period deficit.

Bentley (5-6-3 overall) scored two goals eight minutes apart in the first period to lead 2-0. Bentley's first goal was a power-play goal.

LSSU came within one goal at :26 of the second when junior defenseman Dillin Stonehouse scored on a delayed penalty with goaltender Brian Mahoney-Wilson pulled in favor of an extra attacker. It was the first time this season that the Lakers scored with the extra man. Stonehouse's goal came on assists from sophomore defenseman Kyle Haines and junior forward John Scrymgeour.

Junior forward Chad Nehring (9-3--12) tied the game scoring a power-play goal, his sixth power-play goal of the season, at 2:27 of the second to tie the game, 2-2. Nehring's goal came from junior forward Rick Schofield (5-7--12) and Simon Gysbers (3-5--8). Nehring and Schofield lead the Lakers in points for the season.

The Lakers and Bentley were both scoreless in the third period and during the five-minute sudden-death overtime. Mahoney-Wilson stopped 20 shots, while Bentley goaltender Kyle Rank was forced to save 49 shots.

The Lakers were 1-for-7 on the power-play, while Bentley went 1-for-5.

The shootout proved to be the fall of the Lakers when Bentley's Marc Menzione and Dustin Cloutier scored unanswered goals. Cooper and Nehring shot for the Lakers, who also lost a shootout 1-0 Friday to Union.

Union defeated host RPI 5-4 in overtime during Saturday's championship game.
