CCHA award winners and honorable mentions

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – Lake Superior State junior Rick Schofield and freshman Zach Trotman received mention on the All-Central Collegiate Hockey Association teams, which were announced this week. The NCAA also announced its 2010 NCAA Frozen Four skills challenge team, and senior Zac MacVoy is listed as an alternate.

Trotman of Novi, Michigan received CCHA All-Rookie Team honorable mention. Trotman played a total of 35 games and notched two goals and six assists. Trotman was third on the Laker team in freshman scoring.

Schofield, a junior forward, from Pickering, Ont., made the list of “others receiving votes” for the All-CCHA Team and will be recognized at the CCHA Banquet on March 18 for being a CCHA Scholar-Athlete Award nominee. He led the Lakers in points in 2009-10 with 15 goals and 13 assists.

Schofield also finished third in the final Perani Cup Points Standings. Michigan State’s Drew Palmisano was first with 44 points, followed by Miami’s Cody Reichard with 43 and Schofield with 41.

The NCCA announced the Frozen Four Skills challenge at Ford Field April 9, 2010. Three CCHA players made the Men’s West Squad. MacVoy, a senior from Livonia, Mich., with 6-14—20, is an alternate.
