Lakers spend their weekend off working Kaines Rink Classic
SAULT STE. MARIE - Lake Superior State sophomore Kyle Haines (17) and freshman Ben Power (22) were among the Laker hockey players who volunteered their time to referee at the Kaines Rink Classic held Saturday and Sunday in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.
The annual mite minor tournament, in existence since 2003, is always one of the highlights of the youth hockey season. This was the first time the tournament was held during the Lakers' idle weekend, and the team was happy to provide assistance.
Kaines Rink is a natural ice sheet located on Easterday Avenue. The eight-team tournament is free to participants and spectators.
