Kaunisto signs with Reading Royals

READING, Pa. - Lake Superior State senior defenseman Steven Kaunisto signed a standard players contract with the Reading Royals of the East Coast Hockey League.

Kaunisto played his first professional game Friday against the Johnstown Chiefs. He already has two points in his first three outings, including his first goal as a professional during Sunday's 6-3 loss to Elmira. Reading is 31-27-1 and in second place in the ECHL's American East.

Kaunisto, the Lakers' captain in 2009-10, totaled four goals and 11 assists this season and finished his collegiate career with 14-45--59 in 154 games.

Reading is an affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League, along with the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League.
