Inglis gets the shutout

PITTSBURG, Pa. - Pat Inglis recorded his second win of the season as Lake Superior State (12-7-3 overall, 7-6-1 Central Collegiate Hockey Association) shut out Robert Morris 2-0 Sunday to secure the Lakers' third straight series sweep.

After a scoreless first period, the Lakers scored at 11:03 of the second period. Junior defenseman Matt Cowie (2-5--7) tallied what proved to be the game winner from freshman forward Nick McParland (1-3--4) and junior forward Chad Nehring (11-5--16).

Senior forward Rick Schofield netted the Lakers' second goal at 18:25 of the second period. Schofield's power-play goal was assisted by Nehring and senior forward Zac MacVoy (5-14--19).

MacVoy is now tied for third in the CCHA in total assists, and he and Schofield are tied for seventh in the league in overall points.

Senior goaltender Pat Inglis (2-1-0) stopped all 30 shots that Robert Morris sent his way. Inglis, who now has two career shutouts, made a crucial save late in the first stopping a penalty shot from Robert Morris' Trevor Lewis. It was the second penalty shot faced by Inglis during his career and first save.

Brooks Ostergard totaled 22 saves for the Colonials.

LSSU was 1-for-7 on the power-play and held RMU 0-for-6. The Colonials fell to 3-12-1 overall, 1-4-2 College Hockey America.

Lake Superior State is now on a six-game win streak and eight-game unbeaten streak.
