Laker seniors Will Acton and Chad Nehring sign with the East Coast Hockey League

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - Lake Superior State forwards Will Acton and Chad Nehring both signed Amateur Tryout Agreements’ (ATO) as of March 23. Acton signed with the Reading Royals and Nehring with the Steelheads; both teams are in the East Coast Hockey League.

Acton joins former Laker teammate John Scrymgeour (2006-10). Scrymgeour has played 52 games with the Royals and has totaled 10-11—21.

Acton was the Lakers’ third-leading scorer this season with 9-15—24 in 34 games and has a four-year career total of 32-45—77. He missed five games earlier this season due to illness. Acton played in his first game with the Royals March 23, the Royals were defeated by Gwinnett 3-2.

Nehring was 7th on the Lakers in scoring with 8-4—12 in 37 games and totaled 30-23—53 in his career. Nehring played his first game with the Steelheads March 23, the Steelheads lost 4-3 to the Ontario Reign.

The Royals clinched first place in the Eastern Conference in the Atlantic Division. Idaho Steelheads have a playoff position sitting in third place in the Western Conference Mountain Division.
