Cowie and Hobbins go pro
SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Two more Lake Superior State seniors signed with the East Coast Hockey League. Forward Tyson Hobbins signed an Amateur Tryout Agreement (ATO) with the Idaho Steelheads. Defenseman Matt Cowie signed on to play the rest of the 2010-11 season with the Victoria Salmon Kings.
Hobbins finished his career at Lake State with 5-18—23, including one goal and five assists during the 2010-11 season. Hobbins made his professional debut March 25 during a 3-2 loss to the Ontario Reign.
Cowie was fifth for the Lakers and second among defensemen in points during the 2010-11 season with 4-13—17. He played in a total of 153 games as a Laker and ended with 9-33—42. Cowie played in his first professional game March 26. Victoria was victorious in the shootout, 2-1.
