Former LSSU netminder, Pat Inglis, receives tryout agreement

MOLINE, Ill. (September 13, 2010) The Quad City Mallards of the AA Central Hockey League today announced they have signed goaltender David Brown and come to terms on tryout agreements with netminder Pat Inglis and defenseman Greg Moore. Per club policy, no contract terms were announced.

Last season Brown, 25, went 10-19-3 in 33 games with the ECHL's Gwinnett Gladiators while posting a 3.94 goals against average and a .888 save percentage. The Stoney Creek, Ontario, native was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the eighth round of the 2004 National Hockey League Entry Draft with the two hundred twenty-eighth overall pick. Brown spent his first two seasons in the Penguins organization before joining the Gladiators last year.

"Brown is a terrific signing. In David, we have a former Hobey Baker candidate from Notre Dame and a goaltender the Pittsburgh Penguins thought could play in the NHL, said Mallards Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Frank Anzalone. "We are all very optimistic about what he will bring to our hockey team this season." He and Michel Robinson give us a firm, experienced 1-2 punch in goal."

Brown split his first two pro campaigns between the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League. As a rookie in 2007-08, Brown went 9-7-1 in 19 AHL games while turning in a 2.34 goals against average and a .913 save percentage. That campaign also saw him go 6-6-1 in 13 games in the ECHL with a 3.31 goals against average and a .913 save percentage.??? The following year Brown went 1-2-0 in four games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and 14-6-2 with a 3.06 goals against average and a .907 save percentage with Wheeling.

Before turning pro Brown enjoyed a standout four year collegiate career at Notre Dame. As a freshman in 2003-04, he was named Notre Dame's Rookie of the Year after backstopping the Fighting Irish to the first NCAA tournament berth in school history. Brown's senior year likewise proved historic as he was named a Hobey Baker Award finalist while helping the Golden Domers to the first Central Collegiate

Hockey Association regular season and playoff titles in the program's history and another NCAA tournament appearance. Brown set a host of school records in 2006-07, going 30-6-3 in 39 games with a 1.58 goals against average, a .931 save percentage and six shutouts. He led the nation in wins and goals against average and finished second in shutouts and save percentage on the way to earning First Team All-American West honors, being named CCHA Player of the Year and making the All-CCHA First Team. In 111 career games in the gold and blue Brown went 55-38-11 with a 2.32 goals against average, a .916 save percentage and 12 shutouts.

Inglis will get his first taste of pro hockey at the Mallards training camp. The 25-year old Calgary native completed his senior season at Lake Superior State in the spring. Last year Inglis went 2-3-0 in eight games with a 3.43 goals against average and a .897 save percentage. He went 15-26-6 in 58 career games as a Laker while turning in a 3.23 goals against average and a .898 save percentage.

"Pat Inglis was a solid recruit at Lake Superior State four years ago. He had an up-and-down college career and will challenge Brown and Robinson in training camp. He completes a great trio of goaltenders for camp," said Anzalone.

The 6'4", 200-pound Inglis played four seasons in the Alberta Junior Hockey League with the Drayton Valley Thunder and Calgary Canucks before heading to LSSU.

Moore, 25, is also a rookie. The Chateauguay, Quebec, product scored two goals and totaled 17 points in 29 games last season while helping Elmira College to a third straight ECAC West title as well as a third straight NCAA Division III tournament berth. In four seasons as a Soaring Eagle, the 5'10", 194-pound Moore notched six goals and 46 points in 109 games.

"Greg comes highly recommended from the coaching staff at Elmira College, a competitive program in a quality Division III conference," said Anzalone. "Greg has won at all the levels he has played at, is a good skater and has a great head for the game. He will be competitive at camp."

Moore spent four seasons in the Quebec AAA Junior League with the Lennoxville Cougars, College Champlain Cougars and Vaudreauil-Dorion Mustangs before embarking upon his collegiate career.

Brown, Inglis and Moore join Obi Aduba, Phil Axtell, Mike Byrd, Nick DeCroo, Dustin DeGagne, Jason Dolgy, Mark Ehl, Mike Hartwick, Tyler Kindle, Kirill Kitsyn Jason Kostadine, Patrik Levesque, Shane Lovdahl, Brandon Marino, Maxime Mathieu, Mike McLean, Darren McMillan, Omar Pacha, Ryan Palmer, Zach Pearson and Michel Robinson to bring the number of players on the Mallards' preseason roster to 24.
