Lakers 1-1 in weekend matches

OARCHARD HILLS, Mich. – Lake Superior State topped Davenport University, 7-2, Friday in a non-conference men's tennis match.

Freshman Collin Kuoppala (Iron Mountain, Mich.) played his first match as a Laker, defeating Davenport 6-2, 6-2 No. 5 singles. Freshman Dane Fosgard (St. Clair, Mich.) defeated Jarome Jayapal of Davenport, 6-1, 6-0, during his first match as a Laker, while competing at No. 6 singles.

The No. 2 doubles team of Brandon Clayton (Windsor, Ont.) and Robert Nelson (Grand Blanc, Mich.) won a close set, 8-6, to help highlight the day.

The Lakers (4-5) take the court March 20 at Ferris State for their Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener.
