Sergiu Laza receives Player of the Week honors

BAY CITY – Lake Superior State sophomore Sergiu Laza (Toronto, Ont.) received Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors in men’s tennis after finishing 3-1 last week against Ferris State and Grand Valley State.

At No. 2 singles, Laza defeated his Ferris State opponent 6-1, 6-7 (0-1), 6-4. Against Grand Valley State, Laza was victorious, 6-4, 6-3. Laza and No. 3 doubles partner Travis Toth defeated GVSU 8-6. Laza and Toth lost to Ferris State 8-4 at No. 3 doubles.

Laza improves his overall singles record to 7-5 and his doubles mark to 4-9. Laza has a GLIAC record of 2-0 in singles and 1-1 in doubles.
