Men's tennis picked up a 9-0 win against GRCC

The Lake Superior State men's tennis team played three non-conference, DIII schools Feb. 18-20. LSSU lost 5-4 to Aquinas and Spring Arbor and shut down Grand Rapids Community College 9-0.

Sophomore Sergiu Laza (Toronto, Ont.) and freshman Ryne DuShane (Holland, Mich.) were both 3-0 in singles competition. Laza played at No. 1 singles while DuShane was at  No. 5 and No. 6 singles. At No. 1 singles Laza if 5-0.

No. 1 doubles of Laza and Brandon Clayton (Windsor, Ont.) defeated Aquinas 8-2 and Spring Arbor 9-8(7-3). Laza continued doubles play at No. 2 doubles with sophomore Dane Fosgard (St. Clair, Mich.) against GRCC, winning 9-2(7-3).

Travis Toth (St. Johns, Mich) and Robert Nelson (Grand Blanc, Mich.) defeated Aquinas 8-5 at No. 2 doubles. At No. 1 doubles Toth and Nelson defeated GRCC 8-2.

The Lakers have an overall record of 2-4. The Lakers head to Florida, to start their spring break play against Florida Southern.
