Men's and women's tennis fall to nationally-ranked Southern Indiana

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Lake Superior State men's and women's tennis continue spring break competition with losses to Southern Indiana Feb. 25 at the Evansville Tennis Center.

The Lakers were shut down by No. 37 Southern Indiana 9-0, losing all nine matches in straight sets. LSSU is 3-7 overall and 3-1 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. LSSU men play at Olivet Nazarene at noon Wednesday.

The Laker women lost 8-1 to Southern Indiana. Kaitlynn Hutchinson lost a close match at No. 4 singles, 6-3, 5-7, 10-7. At No. 3 doubles, Hutchinson and partner Holly Daniel also suffered a close loss, 9-8 (7-2).

The lone Laker win came from Sarah Awe at No. 3 singles. Awe defeated her opponent, 7-5, 7-5.

The LSSU women's team (10-11) plays Olivet Nazarene today.
