Lakers dominate singles play

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - Lake Superior State men's tennis defeated Walsh 5-4 Saturday in the Arbuckle Student Activity Center. The Lakers were 4-2 during singles play to secure the win against Walsh.

LSSU is 2-5 overall and 2-1 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Lakers return Sunday at 10 a.m. to play host to GLIAC opponent Malone in the SAC.

Pedro Nunes played to a third set tie-breaker, defeating Walsh 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Dane Fosgard lost a close match at No. 5 singles in a third set tie-breaker 6-4, 4-6, 7-5. Grant Link at No. 3 singles, Kyle Koster at No. 4 and Ryne DuShane at No. 6 won in straight sets. Link posted a 7-6, 7-6 victory.

Koster and Nunes posted an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles.

Walsh fell to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in the GLIAC.
