Lakers close regular season with 7-2 victory

SAULT STE. MARIE - Lake Superior State's revamped doubles teams swept Michigan Tech on Thursday and set the tone for a regular season-ending 7-2 victory.

LSSU moved Robert Nelson up to the No. 1 spot with Brandon Clayton, while Pawel Wegrzyn paired with Travis Toth in the No. 2 slot. Craig Baas partnered with Jack Miller at No. 3 doubles. All three Laker teams won their matches.

LSSU, which won four of six singles matches, finished the regular season 8-11 overall and 2-5 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, while MTU finished 3-15 overall and 1-6 in the GLIAC.

Both teams will compete in the GLIAC Championships on Saturday and Sunday in Midland.
