EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Lake Superior State University men's cross country team turned in another solid showing in its second meet of the 2017 season this Friday (Sept. 15) as the Lakers were among several schools who participated in the 37th annual Michigan State Auto-Owners Spartan Invitational at MSU's Forest Akers East Golf Course in East Lansing, Mich.
The 8K meet, which was non scoring and hosted by Michigan State, saw noteworthy individual performances from a couple of LSSU runners.
Junior Garett Smith paved the way for the Lakers by finishing in a season-best time of 27:07.1 to earn a team-best 68th-place. Freshman David Mitter claimed 148th place by crossing the finish line in a time of 28:55.8 and freshman Kendal Delpiere ran a 29:03.0 time which was good for 155th place.
Junior Dylan Richards ran a 31:01.3 time for 222nd place while freshman Peter Schambaugh garnered 233rd place by running a time of 31:23.0.
A tri of juniors Jack Miles, Zack Workman, and Parker Wyngaard along with freshman Michael Gills competed but were unable to finish.
Lake Superior State are now off until Saturday, Sept. 30, when the Lakers compete in the Bay College Invitational at Escanba, Mich.
