ESCANABA, Mich. - The Lake Superior State men's cross country team had a good showing at the Bay College Invitational on Saturday, September 30th. The Lakers, under interm head coach Rob Gallinger, placed second in the five team field, and had the top finisher overall in David Mitter.
Mitter, a freshman from Howell, Michigan, completed the 8 kilometer course in 27:30, a full eighteen seconds ahead of the second place finisher, Tom Bye of Michigan Tech.
Jack Miles, a junior from Dyden, Michigan, ran a 27:43.5, good for fourth overall. Lake Superior was the only school to have team members in the top ten who were not from Michigan Tech.
Lake State'sKendal Delpiere placed 14th, having ran a 28:37.8. Other performances by the Lakers included Peter Shambaugh and Zachary Workman, whose times of 28:43.3 and 28:44.1 earned them back to back finishes in 16th and 17th places, respectively.
The Lakers' Michael Gills completed the course in 29:03.8, good for 22nd place. Completeing the field for Lake Superior were runners Parker Wyngaard and Dylan Richards. Wynggard ran a 29:46 to place 31st, while Richards finished in 32nd with a time of 30:08.8.

Lake Superior will next compete at the Lansing Community College Invitational on Friday, October 6th. The meet is scheduled to begin at 2:15pm. This will be the last meet before the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships in Marquette, Michigan.
