Joseph makes DII Bulletin All-America Second Team

BEAVERTON, Ore. - Lake Superior State senior guard Emily Joseph was named to the Women's DII Bulletin All-America Second Team.

The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year, who was snubbed by sports information directors on the Daktronics All-Region Team, was the GLIAC's only representative on the 20-member DII Bulletin All-America list. The four All-America squads are noted in the April edition of the Women's DII Bulletin.

The DII Bulletin First Team included player of the year Samantha Murphy of Grand Canyon, Veronica Walker of Delta State, Ashley Arlen of Wayne State (Neb.), Shannon McKever of Lander and Reyana Colson fo Cal Poly-Pomona. In addition to Joseph, the second team included Kayla Smith of California-Pennsylvania, Amanda Dunbar of West Washtington, Jewel White of Franklin Pierce and Jasmine Gunn of Tusculum.

Joseph, who also received WBCA Kodak All-America Honorable Mention, averaged 14.7 points per game and 4.5 assists per game this season. The four-year starter from Sterling Heights, Mich., scored 1,183 career points, finished second on LSSU’s all-time assist list with 440, fourth in career free-throw percentage (361-449, .805) and sixth in career three-point field goals with 134.

While playing against league competition, the three-time GLIAC All-Academic selection ranked third in the GLIAC in scoring at 16.5 ppg and fourth in assists at 4.8 apg in 2010-11. She was named to the All-GLIAC Second Team as a junior.

Joseph is also one of only three Laker women to finish among the top 15 in career scoring and top 10 in assists. The other two are Randi Johnson (2005) and Linda Thompson (1984).
