Joseph earns second player of the week honor
BAY CITY - Lake Superior State senior guard Emily Joseph earned her second Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference North Division Player of the Week honor after averaging 26 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists during last week's road victories over Ferris State and 11th-ranked Grand Valley State.
Joseph scored a season-high 28 points during a 73-56 win at FSU on Jan. 6. She followed that with 24 points, seven rebounds and six assists during a 79-72 overtime victory at GVSU. She has scored 20 or more points during five of the Lakers' last six games.
For the season, Joseph is averaging 15.7 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. In six GLIAC contests, she leads the league in scoring at 22.7 ppg, and is ranked second in average three-point field goals made per game (3.0) and three-point field goal percentage (.643).
The senior guard, who was a 2010-11 Pre-Season All-GLIAC First-Team pick, has 1,089 career points and is ranked third in career assists with 371.
The Lakers play at Michigan Tech at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
