Ashland improves to 10-0 in GLIAC with victory over LSSU

ASHLAND, Ohio - The Ashland women's basketball team improved to 16-1 overall and 10-0 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with Saturday's 63-45 victory over Lake Superior State. The Eagles are the GLIAC's only undefeated team in league play.

Ashley Dorner scored 20 points, and Taylor Woods came off the bench to added 15 for Ashland, which built a 33-15 halftime lead. Kari Daugherty turned in a double double of 10 points and 15 rebounds. The Eagles shot 38.1 percent from the field, including 7-of-26 from three-point range. They made 8-of-8 free throws and out-rebounded LSSU, 50-23.

Maria Blazejewski scored 16 points and Cassy Schemberger added 12 points and nine rebounds to lead Lake Superior State (5-12 overall, 1-9 GLIAC). Sarah Cubr finished with nine points. The Lakers shot 31.5 percent from the field, including 3-of-15 from three-point range, and made 8-of-10 free throws.

LSSU plays host to Ohio Dominican at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Bud Cooper Gymnasium. LSSU Basketball Alumni Weekend is Jan. 28 with the Lakers play host to Tiffin.
