Laker women place fifth at inaugural LSSU Invitational

KINCHELOE - The Lake Superior State women's golf team placed fifth among seven teams at the inaugural LSSU Invitational, which concluded Sunday at The Oaks.

Nicole Bouwens shot an 85-94--179 to tie for 18th place and lead the Lakers, who competed in warmer but windy conditions during the tournament's second ay. Dayna Drewes tied for 23rd with an 86-94--180, and Samantha Gubbins was 25th with an 85-98--183 total. Amanda Garcia (91-93--184) was 26th, followed by Meredith Cleary (107-107--214), who tied for 34th. Louise Hunt shot a 112-113--225.

Ferris State won the team title with 642 points. Bryce Hetchler of FSU claimed medalist honors with a 76-80--156.
