Lakers split again during Day 2 at Dot Richardson Training Center
CLERMONT, Fla. - Lake Superior State lost 13-2 to Winona State and defeated Millersville 9-5 Saturday to split decisions during its second day at the Dot Richardson Training Center.
Infielder Lacey Knoop was 5-for-5 with a double and a triple to lead the Lakers (2-2) against Millersville. Chevi Peralta-Everts hit a solo home run, and Nichole Dunford had two doubles.
Rachel Hall and Lorrie Chaperon hit triples as the Lakers compiled 19 hits. Hall was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, and Amber Kern was 3-for-5. Dunford, Chaperon and Nicole Carstensen had two hits each.
Jillian Willette went the distance for her first collegiate win. She gave up 12 hits, but only two earned runs. She had two strikeouts and two walks.
Dunford was 2-for-3 with a double against Winona State. Carstensen, Hall, Kern and Helena Zandarski added singles. Nikki Christensen pitched five innings and took the loss.
