First-inning runs sink LSSU

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Georgian Court and Clarion jumped out to early leads against Lake Superior State on Friday and went on to win 6-0 and 4-1, respectively, during the Rebel Spring Games.

Rachel Hall had LSSU's only hit against Georgian Court, which scored two runs in the first inning, three in the third and one in the seventh. Jillian Willette gave up seven hits and two walks in taking the loss. Only one run was earned.

Lorrie Chaperon had a double and a triple, and scored LSSU's only run against Clarion. Chevie Peralta-Everts had an RBI double. Nicole Carstensen, Nichole Dunford and Helena Zandarski added singles.

Clarion led 3-0 after one inning and scored a single run in the sixth. Nikki Christensen also tossed a seven-hitter with no walks and two strikeouts.

The Lakers (3-11) play Quincy and Indianapolis on Saturday.
