Lakers finish 2-1 at Urbana Tournament

URBANA, Ohio - Lake Superior State closed out the Urbana Tournament with a 2-0 non-conference loss to Grand Valley State on Sunday.

GVSU, which is 9-5 overall, was 3-0 in the tournament, while LSSU finished 2-1. Urbana was 1-2 and Lake Erie 0-3.

LSSU's Amber Kern (first base), Lorrie Chaperon (second base) and Chevie Peralta-Everts (designated player) made the all-tournament team.

GVSU pitcher Lori Andjelich, who was named most-valuable pitcher of the tournament, held LSSU (6-15) to one hit. She totaled seven strikeouts and two walks.

Grand Valley State totaled six hits off LSSU pitcher Nikki Christensen, who had three strikeouts and two walks. GVSU scored an unearned run in the third inning. Maggie Kerrigan led off the fifth inning with a triple and also scored.

Nichole Dunford had LSSU's only hit.

Lake Superior State will play a tournament at Grand Valley State on Saturday, March 21.
