Lakers open GLIAC slate at SVSU
UNIVERSITY CENTER - The Lake Superior State softball team opened the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference portion of its schedule Wednesday with 16-2 and 8-0 losses at Saginaw Valley State.
LSSU (6-19 overall, 0-2 GLIAC) was the home team in both contests. The Lakers play another double-header at SVSU (15-5 overall, 2-0 GLIAC) on Saturday.
Amber Kern and Lacey Knoop were both 3-for-3 at the plate to lead LSSU in the opener. Rachel Hall, Nicole Carstensen and Nichole Dunford had one hit each. Two of Knoop's three hits were doubles. Nikki Christensen was the losing pitcher.
Dunford and Lorrie Chaperon had LSSU's only hits in the second game. Jillian Willette suffered the pitching loss.
