Former Laker second baseman Lorrie Chaperon is serving as a student assistant coach in 2010-11 while completing her student teaching requirements. The Howell, Mich., native, is a transfer from Glenville State and played three seasons at LSSU.
Chaperon led the Lakers in hits with 44, including 15 extra-base hits, and batted a team-leading .319 as a junior in 2008-09. As a senior in 2009-10, she batted a team-leading .326 with 47 hits, including 14 extra-base hits.
Chaperon is also a member of the Livingston Breeze travel team coaching staff.
"Lorrie is a great asset to our program and to the coaching staff," LSSU head coach Lori Shimasaki said. "As a former player, she has displayed power in the lineup and good mechanics on the field. She brings her knowledge and passion of the game, which adds to the level of intensity we are striving towards each and every day. Lorrie works very well with our players and I am blessed to have her on our staff."
