Softball team's kickoff dinner is Feb. 21

SAULT STE. MARIE - The Lake Superior State softball team kicks off the 2010 season with its annual "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" Dinner from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 21, at the Elks Lodge.

The meal, sponsored by Pingatore Cleaners, will include burgers, hotdogs, chips and refreshments and will be served by Laker softball players. Dessert will be donated by the Laker Hockey fans in Section "N," including Leo and Dorothy Rich, Joe and Jodi Susi, Tony and Anna Mauris, Lenore Boger, Fr. Don Shiroda, and John and Carol Boger.

There is no charge, but donations will be appreciated. The event also includes door prizes and a 50-50 draw. A Central Collegiate Hockey Association Playoffs package, including accommodations, will be auctioned off.

All proceeds will benefit the LSSU softball team. The Lakers open their season with an 18-game stretch in Florida. They play a double-header against Tampa on Friday, Feb. 26, in Clermont, Fla.
