Edgar and Peterson receive All-GLIAC honorable mention

BAY CITY - Senior shortstop Ronlea Peterson and freshman second baseman Haleigh Edgar received All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Honorable Mention in softball for the 2010-11 season.

Peterson, who joined the softball team following the completion of her basketball season, batted .292 with 19 hits and 10 RBIs. She totaled five doubles and three home runs, and batted .378 during her last 14 games. She had a .956 fielding percentage.

Edgar, a slap hitter, batted .257 with a team-leading 27 hits. She had a .960 fielding percentage.

Ferris State junior first baseman Chelsea Morris was named GLIAC Player of the Year, while Saginaw Valley State senior Jade Fulton was the pitcher of the year. Miranda Cleary, a third baseman from Grand Valley State, received freshman of the year honors. Tiffin's Jeff Nickerson was named GLIAC Coach of the Year.
