Lakers end season with GLIAC consolation round victory

MIDLAND - Ferris State edged Lake Superior State 5-4 late Saturday during the lower bracket semifinals of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament.

The Lakers (5-10) came back to beat Saginaw Valley State 5-3 Sunday during the consolation round and placed seventh in the tournament. LSSU picked up wins at Nos. 1, 2, 5 and 6 singles, along with No. 2 doubles. Ingrid Pflieger and Carolyn Pumford both won three-set thrillers at Nos. 1 and 5 singles, respectively.

Senior Weronika Lomacka at No. 2 singles and Pumford were 2-1 for the tournament.
