Women's tennis improves overall record to 5-5.
CALEDONIA - Lake Superior State won all five singles matches against Davenport University Sunday for an 8-1 women's tennis non-conference victory at South Christian Athletic Park.
Lake State was 2-1 in doubles against Davenport. Sophomores Ingrid Pflieger (Grossaitingen, Germany) and Erin Wiethoff (Escanaba, Mich.) won 8-6 at No. 2 doubles, and the No. 3 doubles team of junior Anais Molina-Rodriguez (Lima, Peru) and junior Katie Watchorn (Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.) claimed an 8-1 victory.
Wiethoff at No. 5 singles and Watchorn at No. 6 both swept Davenport, 6-0, 6-0. Pflieger at No. 2 singles battled to a 6-7 (1-7), 6-2, 10-3 win against Davenport. Sophomore Adrienne DiVito (Washington, Mich.) won 6-2 and 6-4 at No. 1. No. 4 singles player Carolyn Pumford (Bannister, Mich.) defeated her opponent, 6-3, 6-2.
LSSU plays host to Michigan Tech for its last regula-season home match Oct. 17 at the Arbuckle Student Activity Center.
