Lakers defeat Division I SDSU

ORLANDO, Fla. - Lake Superior State finished 4-2 in singles to defeat Division I opponent South Dakota State 5-4 Wednesday.

No. 1 singles player Adrienne DiVito (Washington, Mich.) won 6-1, 6-1. Carolyn Pumford (Bannister, Mich.), at No. 3, and Katie Watchorn (Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.), at No. 5, also won in straight sets. Erin Wiethoff, at No. 4, pulled out a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win.

At No. 1 doubles, DiVito and Pumford were the only Lakers to win, 8-5.

The Lakers (8-12 overall) are now 2-2 in Florida and will play their last match Friday against Saint Leo at 3 p.m.
